Bluetooth Profiles

The profile found in Bluetooth will describe how
the bluetooth phones technology is used. Profiles can be best
described as vertical slices through the protocol
stack. It will define options in each protocol
that are mandatory for the profile.

The profile will also define the parameter ranges
for each protocol. The concept of the profile is
used to decrease the risk of interoperability
problems between the different products. These
profiles won't normally define any additions to
the Bluetooth specification, which is why you can
add new profiles where you need them. The
Bluetooth underlying technology is the same, only
the specific method that it's used is defined.

Generally speaking, all profiles of Bluetooth are
based on the GAP (Generic Access Profile). There
are 9 profiles that fall in the GAP category, and
they are below:
1. AVRCP - Audio/Video Remote Control
Profile
2 bluetooth printer. ESDP - Extended Service Discovery Profile
3. CIP - Common ISDN Access Profile
4. PAN - Public Area Network Profile
5. HCRP - Hardcopy Cable Replacement
Profile
6. GAVDP - Generic Audio/Visual Distribution
Profile
7. A2DP - Advanced Audio Distribution Profile
8. VDP - Video Distribution Profile
9. HID - Human Interface Device Profile

To put it another way, usage models will describe
Bluetooth device applications and the associated
profiles that are used. The usage model focuses
mainly bluetooth headset on three categories - voice/data access points,
peripheral interconnects, and PAN (Personal Area
Networking).

The voice and data access points involve connecting
computing bluetooth headphones devices to communicating devices through
a wireless link. This way, data can be transferred
in a wireless manor, without the need of cables or
other types of connectivity.

PAN is another very important usage model with
strong appeal to business customers. Bluetooth
networks are easy to set up in virtually any type
of environment bluetooth headset. An example would be meeting
others at a trade show.

Instead of having contact information beamed via
infrared bluetooth printer bluetooth, business cards can quickly and easily be
transferred via Bluetooth wireless. The fact is
that many documents can be exchanged this very
same way - making the uses and possibilities
virtually endless.

The Bluetooth profile is very important to the
specification bluetooth phones bluetooth wireless, as it enables you to do so much
more. You can use peripherals and devices with
the profiles, and virtually anything else that you
decide.

As Bluetooth expands and gets bigger and better,
you can count on the profiles to expand and get
even more functions. If you have experience with
Bluetooth profiles, you should know exactly what
they are and what you can do with them. If not,
all you need is a Bluetooth device - and a vivid
imagination.

Customer Review: FINALLY!!!!

I buy on average two to three things, mostly electronic items such as mp3 and bluetooth gadgets, per week from Amazon. I never leave feedback. Call me lazy. I had toleave feedback fro this headpiece. I have 5 differnt bluetooth headpieces. The only one that comes close to this one is the one that everyone else seems to like. The Plantronics 510. The bad part of that one is the power button is hard to turn on and off and with a Treo it doesn't always stay connected for some reason. This got it ALL!! Reliable, easy to use, good quality. You want a good earpiece. STOP LOOKING! This is it.

Customer Review: Best so far

I've owned numerous bluetooth headsets and so far this is the best of them...though still falling short of my expecations.

Without question this thing is super lightweight - almost scary how light it is. When I first put it on, I figured it was gonna be like the various motorola headsets I've had that fall off my ear whenever I turn my head or look down...it didn't happen. The multi-directional pivot on this thing really does make it fit perfectly on your ear, and even with a little agressive head shaking I could not get this thing to fall off.

The on/off feature has been great for maximizing battery life, but if you expect to open the boom, get the headset positioned and then answer the call before it stops ringing you're a much faster human being than I am. If the headset is 'off' I simply answer the hand set and then transfer it to the headset once I get it positioned.

The audio quality...well, hmmm...not sure what to say. The noise cancelling feature is pretty slick, and for the most part deadens background sounds. People can tell I'm on a headset, but when I tell them I'm outside, walking down the ridiculously noisy streets of Bangalore India, they are pretty shocked (they hear very little other than my voice).

The quality I hear from the headset is so / so ... this is my same experience of the Jawbone. There tends to be a lot of interference / crackle, but it's only audible on my end. The volume is also quite low, forcing me to set it to maximum a lot of the time. I gave up on the Jawbone as it wasn't all that comfortable, and the thing looks goofy - kinda like a bandaid on your cheek.

If you're happy with your current headset don't go rushing out to purchase this. However, if you're in the market for a new headset this is as good as anything out there with some cool features that make it a good purchase.
